The Community Surf Club grew out of a youth group in the township run by Sabrina Horn, where 6 boys wanted to learn how to swim. Through this surf program youngsters are being empowered in the township community of George to become strong swimmers and eventually surfers. The Butterfly Foundation through the generous contributions of its members sponsored surfboards, wetsuits and monthly running cost for 12 months. This program will enable the surf club students to go for surfing lessons in Victoria Bay on a weekly basis where they not only learn practical skills but are also discipled to become leaders in their communities and followers of Jesus. Through this initiative one of the boys already got a weekend job at a local surf school to help with surfboard repairs and surf school assistance. We’re certain that this is just one of the many success stories to come.
