Equipping Future Teachers

The ACTT Program stands for “A Call To Teach” and is a Global Challenge initiative to train and equip the future teachers of South Africa through a discipleship program. This program provides students with valuable experience and exposure, preparing them for impactful contributions in education.

The ACTT students had a busy term. They are almost done with their ABC Adventure course, which is a qualification in Early Childhood Development, Child Evangelism, and Community Project Management. They are also engaged in a Life Plan course to support their passions and purpose.

Every Monday, they join other students to read through books like “People Over Profit” and “Desiring God,” which encourage and guide them as young individuals. Recently, a speaker from Canada talked to them about Apologetics. The students have been giving back to the community at a crèche and after-school center, where they tutor children and support the staff. They also joined Oakridge on a camp, where they presented games. Additionally, they are participating in weekly youth gatherings called Zeal, spending time with 11-14-year-olds.

Lately, they completed the Strengths finder test, and our coaching sessions will take place next week. They are currently busy with their exams, and some have done their practical’s at local schools. Overall, it has been a safe space to learn and grow.
